After seeing and hearing all the hype on Facebook during the week, we decided to visit the Berwick Food Truck Carnival at Akoonah Park in Berwick, last night.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but we had a wonderful night sampling the different varieties of food.  The Berwick Food Truck Carnival is a five day event featuring Melbourne’s finest food trucks.  There is also a Carnival Bar serving up beer, wine, soft drinks and selected cocktails, all at reasonable prices.

Food Trucks:

Babaji’s Kitchen – Indian Street Food

Boho Blends – Vegetarian & Vegan

Brazilian Bites – Authentic Brazilian Street Food

El Chivi – Uruguayan Steak Sandwiches

Fancy Hank’s Roadhouse – American BBQ

Korean Fried Chicken – KFC

Mr. Burger – American Burgers

Super Taco – Tacos

Senor Churro – Churros, Chorizos & Chimichurri

Trailer Made – Middle Eastern

Vango – Organic Cuisine

I really liked the dedicated kid’s entertainment area which includes a petting zoo (FREE), face painting (FREE), jumping castle, rides and performances.  The area is enclosed and separated from all the food trucks, so there is plenty of room for the kids to run around and enjoy themselves.  The rides are all $5.00 each which I thought was a bit steep, but that’s just my opinion.

Hot Tips:

** A gold coin is needed to get into the car park.

** The event is FREE to get into.

** A gold coin is also needed to get into the kids activity section.

** There are ATMS located there, but the line was huge, so bring cash with you.

** Be prepared to wait in lines for your food. We waited over 20 minutes to order our food and then a further 25 minutes for food to be ready.

**Bring in your drinks and snacks for the kids.

** Bring a picnic blanket as the chairs and tables get taken very quickly.

** If you have kids, why not grab your food and take it into the kid’s area, so you can sit back, relax and eat while the kids run around freely in the enclosed area.

Overall, we had a great evening out.  The food was delicious and the event was really good.  There were however, A LOT of people, but that is to be expected.  Great event. Thumbs Up.
