Over the weekend we were invited to a sweet little girl’s birthday party at Rain Hayne & Shine Farmyard in Balnarring (Mornington Peninsula) which is about a 70 minute drive from Melbourne City on a good day with no traffic.

I don’t normally do posts when we are out celebrating with friends or family, but this place was just too beautiful not to share.

We have been to a couple of farms around Melbourne but this one had the “homely” feel to it.  The animals were very well looked after and a lot of them roam free around the grounds.  This is a fantastic place for the kids to get a “hands on” experience.

With pony rides and tractor hay rides to feeding all the animals (pigs, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, horses) to holding the cute little bunnies and guinea pigs, there’s surly something there for everyone.

For larger groups or parties, you can book a room in the train carriage and BYO food and drinks for a wonderful day out.  There’s also a small playground and sand pit for the kids too.
