On Friday 16th January 2015, I was invited to a very special event. Sofitel Melbourne On Collins held a cocktail party which was hosted by Le Club Accor Hotels in Sofi’s Lounge with special guests Serena and Venus Williams. Serena Williams is currently ranked Number 1 in Women’s Singles Tennis. Australian Film Director Baz Luhrmann also attended the event.
The Williams sisters alongside Sofitel Melbourne On Collins Executive Chef John Savage, took on a challenge to see who could make the best mini Bombe Alaska. The challenge was judged by Baz Luhrmann who claimed the delicious desserts, was a draw.
The Bombe Alaska, renamed as The Serena Surprise, will be available in No35, the restaurant of Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, during the Australian Open.
The event also consisted of well-presented servers dishing out beautiful cocktail food and endless glasses of champagne. I was also lucky enough to have a photograph taken with Venus Williams.
