Planning a weekend in Melbourne and not sure where to stay or what to see and do?  Then check out my short guide to a fantastic weekend in the city which I just experienced myself a couple of weeks back.

Friday Afternoon

Leave work early (thumbs up) and check into the gorgeous boutique Lyall Hotel located in South Yarra.  It’s the perfect location for amazing shopping and it’s very close to all the superb restaurants on Toorak Road.  Come home after a night out and rest your weary body on their comfortable King Size beds for a night of luxury and relaxation.

Saturday

Wake up early at the Lyall Hotel and venture down for breakfast in their ultra-chic breakfast area.  After a lazy breakfast it’s time to say good bye and check out.  Stroll down Toorak Road and head for Lux Bite.  Ponder over the many divine desserts (my choice is the tasting plate at $38.00).

After feeling full and knowing that you ate way too much, it’s time to check into the next hotel at Crown Promenade.  It’s one of my favourite Melbourne Hotels and it always feels like home.

After unpacking again for a second time (although it’s made easy with my new Lojel Australia Suitcases), it’s time to unwind and go for a relaxing swim in their infinity swimming pool.

Feeling peckish for dinner?  Yes please.  Why not start with a few drinks at Tonic Bar located in the Crown Promenade Hotel.  Now depending on your taste and style, there are many restaurants from fine dining to casual located in the Crown Casino.  Most of the fine dining restaurants will need to be booked prior to attending.

Sunday

Awake from a wonderful nights rest and be mesmerised over the view of Melbourne City from the luxurious comfy bed.  I know it’s hard to get up, but come on, let’s get up and check out some more of Melbourne, but not before an amazing breakfast at Mesh Restaurant in Crown Promenade.  A great way to start your day.

Head over to the Melbourne Aquarium (which is walking distance from the Crown Promenade) and check out the wonderful creatures.  With over 10,000 aquatic animals to see, including one of the world’s largest saltwater crocodiles it’s easy to see why this place is not only a fun day out but educational at the same time.

After a glorious weekend in Melbourne City, it’s time to pack up and head home.  Don’t worry, we will be back soon as there is so much to experience in Melbourne City.
