The Vibe Hotel Marysville is located approximately 90 minutes from Melbourne, about 34 kilometres north-east of Healesville and is the perfect location to stay when heading to Lake Mountain for the snow season.
Marysville is the tiny tourist town that was destroyed by 2009 Bushfires that has become widely referred to as Black Saturday. According to resources, over 400 individual fires were recorded on the 7th February and the fires claimed 40 lives, destroyed over 538 homes and wiped out the Marysville business centre.
Seven years on, and the changes are significant. Some businesses have rebuilt, some just left after the fires and the locals are full of spirit and although they have moved on, they will never forget what happened in 2009.
The new Vibe Hotel Marysville is stylish and contemporary and is located on the main street of Marysville. The hotel offers 101 comfortable rooms and is styled like an Alpine Ski Resort with huge peaked roofs.
THE ROOM
We stayed in a Woodland Room with a luxurious King size bed. The room was of generous size and included a 32 inch LCD TV, selected Foxtel & in-room movies and wireless internet (100MB complimentary Wi-Fi per 24 hours, per room).
The rooms also contain individually controlled air-conditioning, in-room safe and a fully stocked Mini-bar including some great local wines and a selection of teas & coffees. The room also contains an iron and ironing board (which is great because most hotels these days don’t).
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and had a separate shower, however it would have been great to see more storage to place all your toiletries and makeup, however that’s just my opinion.
THE FACILITIES
The hotel offers an outdoor heated pool (which unfortunately we didn’t get to use because it was too cold outside), a sauna, a fitness centre and tennis courts. The Hotel also has plenty of on-site parking available.
DINING
Radius Bar & Grill features premium locally sourced Yarra Valley produce and offers a premium dining experience for breakfast, lunch and dinner. To avoid disappointment, make sure you make a booking at the restaurant as it can get booked out rather quickly.
We dined in Radius Café for breakfast both mornings which offered a buffet style set up. Breakfast included hot foods (sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, toast and baked beans) and cold foods (cereals, fruit salad and a small selection of pastries. Juices and tea and coffee were also available.
On Saturday Night we dined in Radius Bar and Grill and had a wonderful night. We started off with some warm bread and dips, and then came our main meal of Angus Scotch fillet steak for the husband and Salmon for myself. Our daughter had some beautiful pasta and meatballs which she really enjoyed. We finished off the night with some sweet treats which included a sticky date cake and ice-cream that we shared between us and some ice-cream for our daughter.
The setting was really beautiful and the staff was really fantastic. Thank you for the wonderful night. The food was really tasty and we walked out truly satisfied and definitely a restaurant to remember next time we are in town.
MY THOUGHTS
Overall, we had a delightful time at the Vibe Hotel Marysville. The hotel had everything we needed for our visit and the staff was amazing and really looked after our every need. The hotel is a 100% Non-Smoking Hotel which I thought was fantastic.
The town itself has that old town charm and it’s just devastating to think what happened back on Black Saturday. The town is back on its feet now, but needs people like you to come up and visit for the day or the weekend and help support the locals and their businesses.
I would like to thank The Vibe Hotel Marysville for offering a media rate for the room and hosting our breakfast on both mornings and one night of dining. And as always, my opinion is definitely my own.
