Who could resist an afternoon High Tea and the luxurious Sofitel Melbourne on Collins? Definitely not me that’s for sure. Over the weekend I was warmly welcomed to Sofi’s Lounge at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins to experience their delicious High Tea. We were promptly shown to our table and ordered some pre High Tea Drinks consisting of some French bubbles and my signature Midori and lemonade.
The High Tea is unlike others that I have been to. I’m more familiar with the three tier stand set up usually comprising of scones, cupcakes, and sandwiches. The Sofitel High Tea is set up as a buffet style, so you go back as many times as you like, which is great value for money. But don’t be fooled, the food is very rich in flavour meaning you wont really over indulge.
The buffet had a selection of finger sandwiches, hot and cold savouries, freshly cooked crepes and pikelets, freshly cooked scones with jam and cream and a variety of cakes and desserts. The High Tea is also accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine and tea or coffee.
The dessert table was thoughtfully set up in tennis theme as it was the finals of the Australian Open. The service was impeccable. The waiters and waitresses are always on hand to top up your champagne glasses and anything else that you should need. The food was absolutely delicious and visually appealing. My favourite from the High Tea, was the freshly baked scones with homemade jam and whipped cream.
