On Sunday the 20th of July, I volunteered my photography services to The National Breast Cancer Foundation for The High Tea Party event at the Hilton on the Park in Melbourne.

It’s a two day event which includes a wonderful high tea sitting, workshops, fashion parades, pamper stations, styling, makeup workshops, nail and hand massages, food tastings, champagne and endless amounts of shopping.  The event is held in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide.

The two day event pre sold 5000 tickets so it was expected to be an amazing day.

I started at 9 am working on behalf of The National Breast Cancer Foundation.  The NBCF had a wonderful stall set up with a big wheel.  The wheel costs $10 for a spin and depending on what you landed on, you choose your prize accordingly.   All ladies who donated their money walked away with a fantastic prize.  The stall was very successful in raising well needed funds.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the leading community-funded organisation in Australia raising money for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer. Since NBCF was established in 1994, over $97 million has been awarded to fund over 340 Australian-based research projects across every state and territory, to improve the health and wellbeing of those affected by breast cancer. One of the busiest stalls was Melli Cosmestics.  The ladies were lined up to have complimentary mini makeovers.  The make up artisits were very informative about the products that they were using and they even gave you a detailed breakdown at the end of the make over to let you know the exact products that they used.   The stall itself had everything from foundations to blush, to primers, mascara, makeup brushes and the newly released Luxe Lipstick Range.

My high tea setting was at 12.30pm in the Grand Ballroom and wow what a site when you walked in.  The tables were set up beautifully with a take home goodie bag as well.  The delicious high tea included gourmet sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, a variety of delectable cakes, and unlimited tea and a complimentary piccolo of Sparkling wine.

While the High Tea was served, Living Silk put on a wonderful fashion show.  The ladies that were chosen to model the clothes had all been touched by breast cancer. Some of ladies were still in remission and some of them had survived the cancer and beaten it.  These gorgeous women didn’t leave a dry eye in the audience and the inspiration and courage that they had to get up on stage and have a fabulous time was just absolutely amazing.  It was a real reality check and they did a fantastic job of getting the message out there to all women.  I honestly walked away from the show feeling amazed and blessed with my wonderful life and thought that life IS very short and to make the absolute most of it.  I just couldn’t wait to go home and hug my husband and my daughter.

I had an amazing day at The High Tea Party and would definitely recommend that you all book tickets for next year.  It’s a great reason to catch up with the girls and have a fabulous day, while supporting a fantastic charity at the same time.

I would like to thank the NBCF for having me work with them on this amazing event.

I would also like to thank Alison Dean from The Peppermint Group for donating two tickets so that I could enjoy and experience this wonderful day with you all.
