With summer heating up and the kids preparing for all day water play at the beach and swimming pools, we need to ensure our kids are protected. With so many drowning deaths and accidents happening, here are a few tips to help keep your kids protected.
Stay Close
Toddlers and Infants should always be in an arm’s length of an adult. Whether you’re in the pool, at the beach or lazy around the water, this tip is very important.
Supervision
All kids must be supervised in or out of the water at all times, regardless of how well they can swim.
Learn
Children should start swimming lessons as young as possible to be prepared for later in their life.
Swim Between the Flags
Make sure you always swim between the flags. The Surf Lifesaving Australia is there to protect swimmers against the ocean. Also make sure to read the signs for any dangers at the beach.
Sunscreen
UV radiation is so strong these days that it can cause damage to not only your skin but can cause premature aging and eye damage too. SunSmart recommends using a combination of the five sun protection measures during the daily sun protection times. Slip on clothing, Slop on SPF30 or higher sunscreen, Slap on a hat, Seek shade and Slide on sunnies. Always remember to reapply sunscreen after swimming.
Be Prepared
Why not register for a children’s first aid course and be prepared in the event of an emergency.
