Warner Bros. Movieworld was the next theme park on our list. Movieworld is owned and operated by Village Roadshows and was opened on June 3rd 1991. The park is located on the Pacific Motorway in Oxenford, Queensland.
I heard that Movieworld is one of the better theme parks to take young toddlers, so we were going to put it to the test.
THE RIDES
There are so many rides at Movieworld which caters for all ages. From thrill rides, to adventure rides to family and children’s rides. Make sure you check out prior to arrival what rides are closed due to maintenance so you won’t be disappointed. There were quite a few rides closed when we visited. The Wild West Falls, the Green Lantern, the Yosemite Sam’s Train and the Intencity Dodgems were all closed. Sad Face….
I was really disappointed that I couldn’t bring myself to go on the Superman Escape. I was trying to build myself up for it all day, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I will definitely have to try and come back soon to do it. Don’t judge me!
The Kids WB! Fun Zone is a great area for the young ones. It features all the Looney Tunes TV characters including Daffy Duck, Tweety, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Sylvester. Some of the rides they have there are the Tweety Cages, a beautiful Carousel, Speedy’s Taxis and the Junior Driving School. Don’t forget to take your picture with as many of the characters as possible. I think my daughter was a little bit skeptical about them.
THE SHOWS
The first show on our list to see was the Hollywood Stunt Driver 2. Australia’s best stunt crews, Showtime FMX have created this action packed stunt show with a dash of comedy to have you watching in excitement. Be ready as you may be called up from the audience to participate.
The second show on our list was to go to the Roxy Theatre and watch Rio in 4D. Anyone who has watched Rio knows the journey of Blu and Jewel, how they are the last blue Macaws on Earth and watching it in 4D is just fantastic. I thought the seat movements in time to the movie were a great touch. Not to mention those sprays of water.
The final and most anticipated show was the live parade on Main Street. We took our seats early to ensure a great view and it was a wonderful show that my daughter loved. The music, the parade, the bubbles, wow what an amazing show for the kids, and adults young at heart.
THE FOOD
You are not allowed to bring in food and drink into Movieworld unless you have dietary requirements or if it’s for infants or babies. You can however bring in fruit and bottled water.
There are a variety of food options at Movieworld, from the all American Ricks Café to Arthurs Bakery to Ben and Jerrys Ice Creamy to the Wild West Roadhouse. We decided to dine at Ricks Café as it was best value for money. They had an all you can eat buffet of pizza, pasta, salad and desserts.
HOT TIPS
**Visiting with kids (as it was my first time) everything takes a little bit longer, rides, walking, eating, toilet breaks, so again, plan your day wisely.
**Prepare your day around the shows and Meet and Greets so you won’t miss anything. Trust me, the day goes before you know it.
**Before you visit Movieworld, please make sure you ring ahead to see what rides are closed due to maintenance or season, so you won’t be disappointed.
**As it was off season, the lines for the rides were very short. Approximately 10 minute wait for the rides.
PRICES
There are different variety passes available, so please check out the website to see what best suits you.
OPENING HOURS
Warner Bros. Movie World is open every day of the year except Anzac Day and Christmas Day. Gates open at 9.30am and close at 5pm sharp.
Overall, I had a great day at Movieworld with my family. I was a little bit disappointed that the Wild West Falls was closed because I was really looking forward to it. Other than that, my daughter had a great time especially in the Kids WB! Fun Zone. I would definitely love to come back when she is a little bit older so she can experience some of the other rides too.
I would like to Thank Movieworld for hosting my visit and as always, I would never endorse or recommend a service or product that I didn’t honestly enjoy!
