After my visit last year to The Tesselaar Tulip Festival, I was eager to go back and experience it all over again. As the festival is over a number of weeks and has different themes each week, I decided that I wanted to go over the Food, Wine and Jazz weekend. This time, we arrived at the Tulip Farm just before the doors opened and lucky that we did because there was already a huge line waiting to get in and with the weather being as beautiful as it was, the day was just going to get busier and busier.
Once through the gates, we headed to see the tulips first and photograph as much as we could before the crowds came in. The colours of the flowers were just beautiful. It’s definitely a photographer’s dream. After taking countless okay maybe 50 to 100 photographs, we then made our way to the wonder through the rest of the festival. There was live jazz music playing on the main stage, market stalls and a great variety of food stalls. Everything from Dutch pancakes, to coffees, to wine and beers, to pizzas, to Indian gourmet food, German Sausages and Ice-creams, fairy floss and jellies. The selection of foods is endless.
We then made our way over to the secret garden so my daughter could play around in the garden and guess what? She even spotted a real fairy hiding up in the tree.
Hot Tips
** Be there as early as possible as it gets busy very quickly.
** Take your photographs of the tulips as soon as you get there to eliminate as much of the crowd in the background of your photo.
** Ladies, wear sensible shoes. The tulips are on a slope and you are walking over the grass and through the flowers. I saw far too many women struggling in high heels.
** You can buy a great variety of food there, but why not pack a picnic lunch or bring in some snacks or drinks too.
Tickets:
Adults: $24.00
Concession: $20.00
Children (under 16): Free, if accompanied by adults.
Overall, we had a wonderful day out at The Tesselaar Tullip Festival and I can’t wait to go back again next year.
I would like to Thank the Tesselaar Tulip Festival for hosting my visit, and as always, I would never endorse or recommend a service or product that I didn’t honestly enjoy!
