I have been wanting to attend The Tesselaar Tulip Festival for a long time and finally over the weekend I had the opportunity to go. Melbourne put on a beautiful day with the temperature being around 26.c. Perfect weather for an outing in the Dandenong’s.
When we arrived at the Farm around 10am, the car park was filling up quickly. Our tickets had already been sent out to us, so we were lucky enough to jump the queue and walk right in.
When we walked down to where the tulips were, my first reaction was “WOW”. Absolutely stunning. The colours were just amazing. I was told that there were over half a million tulips. The Tesselaar Tulip Festival is set on a 55 acre working farm of rich volcanic soil located at the base of the Dandenong Ranges.
I was really excited that you were allowed to walk between the tulips and take photos. My daughter and I jumped in between them and I must apologise as my daughter did tread on a couple of the plants. Eekk.
After we took lots and lots of photos we decided to take a wonder around the rest of the place. There was live entertainment, market stalls and lots of varieties of food. From wood fire pizzas, to Dutch pancakes, to chocolates, fairyfloss, Baked Potatoes, Irish Stew and Irish Biscuits. The calorie counting had definitely gone out the window today.
We then walked through the historic gardens to the sculpture exhibit and the beautiful garden display. There was a secret fairy garden with hidden gnomes and a wishing well to make a wish.
We had a wonderful time at the Tesselaar Tullip Festival and I can’t wait to go back next year again with the rest of my family.
